Communication is very important aspect for someone who is hearing impaired, that is why we would like to provide you with a brief tutorial of Sign Language. Sign language is based upon the alphabet and similar to writing with hand signals, which makes it easier to pick-up than learning a new spoken language.
Exclusion, poverty and isolation are a shared reality for many Canadians living with a disability. At Independent Living Sudbury and Manitoulin we encourage people with disabilities to learn the skills necessary to live independently in their communities and transcend their physical and social boundaries.
Though our successes have been many, we are still facing great challenges as a community.
In our financial services section we have basic information on a wide range of financial topics. If you want help with financials, take a look in this section or come talk to us.
We can provide information on applying for birth certificates, opening bank accounts, RESP and more!
Developed in 2009, Independent Living Sudbury Manitoulin created the City of Greater Sudbury Accessibility Guide, that gives information on the accessibility and contact information for a wide variety of locations in Greater Sudbury. This guide is a great tool for people with disabilities to know in advance if a location is accessible to them.
Please note that this guide was developed in 2009, therefore some of the information could be out of date. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information contained within the booklet. We recommend you contact the location you are interested in for up to date information on accessibility.
The guide is available in PDF format and in booklet format. Contact us or visit us for more details.
We like to be very involved in the community, and have build relationships with a lot of different organizations. We are partnered with schools, charities and more!
